WCD SUPPORTED BY
WCD is supported by a coalition of 12 international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), governmental organizations and scientific and medical societies with an interest in sexual and reproductive health.
EngenderHealth is a leading global women’s health organization that trains health care professionals and that partners with governments in approximately 20 countries to ensure that reproductive health and family planning services are available to all women—today and for generations to come. Through its work in family planning, maternal health, HIV and AIDS, gender equity, and many other programs, EngenderHealth has improved the lives of men, women, and families for more than 70 years. Its New York headquarters supports a global network of regional and country offices.
EngenderHealth works to improve the health and well-being of people in the poorest communities of the world. We do this by sharing our expertise in sexual and reproductive health and transforming the quality of health care. We promote gender equity, advocate for sound practices and policies, and inspire people to assert their rights to better, healthier lives. Working in partnership with local organizations, we adapt our work in response to local needs.
AREAS OF EXPERIENCE
EngenderHealth works alongside doctors, nurses, communities, and policymakers to support a woman’s right to have the number of children she wants—not the number her circumstances dictate. We support health professionals to advance their training and skills, partner with communities to generate awareness, advocate for sexual and reproductive health policies and resources, and forge lasting partnerships at every level.
With more than 70 years of experience, EngenderHealth continues to lead the way in ensuring high-quality family planning and reproductive health services for millions of women so they can thrive. EngenderHealth serves as the lead organization and managing partner for several major projects—consortiums of organizations working in partnership to achieve the maximum impact on public health. From expanding women’s access to and use of family planning in West Africa, to promoting maternal health through the prevention, treatment, and care of obstetric fistula in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, EngenderHealth contributes its specialized technical expertise to each project.
